[Cherry Blossoms Blooming] Nanko Park

[Cherry Blossoms Blooming] Nanko Park

The contrast of the Nasu mountain range and cherry blossoms is exquisite

Nanko Park

Mid-Apr~Late Apr

Said to be the oldest park in Japan, it was built in 1801 by the 12th lord of Shirakawa, Matsudaira Sadanobu, under the concept of "Shimin Kyōraku" where anyone can relax beyond social class differences. Along the lakeshore, there are about 800 Yoshino cherry trees, azaleas, pines, and maples, beautifully contrasting with the Nasu mountain range in spring cherry blossoms, early summer fresh greenery, autumn leaves, and winter snow scenes, allowing enjoyment of scenic beauty through the four seasons. Within the park, there are Nanko Shrine, Suirakuen, and Kyōraku-tei. The "Nanko Dango" sold at lakeside shops competes in flavor at various stores and is delicious.
