Ando Family Residence Tanabata Festival

The Ando Family Residence, a nationally designated important cultural property built in 1708 (the 5th year of the Hoei era) during the mid-Edo period, conveys the lifestyle of wealthy farmers and features a precious building with a garden that offers beautiful scenery throughout the seasons. Until July 7 (Monday), the Ando Family Residence displays local Tanabata ornaments with long sleeves and bamboo decorations adorned with wishes written on strips of paper by local preschoolers and children, allowing visitors to freely add their own wishes as well. Additionally, a display of Tanabata festival decorations based on the Ogawasara style of etiquette, said to have originated in Minami-Alps City, is exhibited in the tea room.
