Kamimizo Summer Festival

A festival that has continued since the end of the Edo period
The Kamimizo Summer Festival is a traditional festival with a history dating back to the end of the Edo period, held on the last weekend of July. It takes place on Kamimizo Shopping Street, which is closed to traffic during the event. Starting from Sunday evening, 20 traditional portable shrines and 8 floats from each neighborhood gather in front of the festival headquarters at the Honcho intersection of the shopping street, where the procession of the portable shrines and the floats begins. As night falls, lanterns are lit on each portable shrine, showcasing the splendor of the festival.
