Kamimizo Summer Festival

A festival that has continued since the late Edo period
The Kamimizo Summer Festival is a traditional festival with a history dating back to the late Edo period, held on the last weekend of July, transforming Kamimizo Shopping Street into a pedestrian paradise. On Sunday evening, 20 portable shrines and 8 floats, which have been passed down in the local area, gather from each neighborhood in front of the festival headquarters at the Honcho intersection of the shopping street for the procession of portable shrines and the operation of the floats. As night falls, lanterns are lit on each portable shrine, enhancing the festive atmosphere.
