Kumejima Livestock Market Calf Auction (July)
Let's observe the auction of black-haired wagyu calves
You can observe the calf auction held every two months for free. Okinawa Prefecture is the 4th largest calf producer in the country. Many farmers in Kumejima also engage in livestock farming, selling calves that are about 10 months old. At the auction, cattle farmers from outside the prefecture (people who raise cows for meat) purchase the calves, most of which are shipped as branded beef nationwide.
