Said to be the oldest and one of the largest cherry blossoms in Nara Prefecture.
The giant cherry tree "Thousand-Year Cherry Blossom" is a powerful sight with its branches spreading vigorously on the stone steps of the path to Butsuryuji, established as the southern gate of Murou-ji by Kōbō Daishi’s disciple, Ken'e. With a trunk circumference of 7.5m, a height of 16m, and an age of over 900 years, it is famous as one of the oldest cherry trees in Nara Prefecture. Lighting will be implemented during the flowering period.

About 13 minutes by Nara Kōtsū bus bound for Sonimura from Kintetsu Osaka Line's Haibara Station, get off at "Takai" and walk about 30 minutes.
