9th Noh Theatre Collaboration Yume Kikyo

An elegant blend of opera and Noh theatre collaboration
Part 1: Yoshiwara Yume Kikyo Part 2: Garasha no Yume Kikyo This time's theme flower is the 'Kikyo' from the Seven Flowers of Autumn. Part 1 features a comedic and tearful story set in the Yoshiwara brothel 'Kikyo-ya' during the late Edo period. Part 2 presents a mysterious stage where the ghost of Akechi Mitsuhide leads his daughter Hosokawa Garasha to the underworld just before the Battle of Sekigahara. Both stories connect through the momentary dreams linked to the Kikyo flower, enjoyed on a Noh stage that uniquely fuses Japanese and Western songs from two different historical backgrounds.
