Ghosts created by Edo people. The ghost plays of Tsuruya Namboku IV, the adventure novels by Kyokutei Bakin, and the scary story "Hyakumonogatari" sparked a ghost boom during the late Edo period, influencing ukiyo-e as well. Ghosts appearing out of resentment towards the present world. Vengeful spirits causing disasters. Beasts such as cats, raccoon dogs, and foxes that deceive people. Ghost pictures were probably the entertainment and play of Edo people before the age of television. Thrilling, mysterious, and humorous. Let's enjoy encounters with strange and uncanny ghosts.
