The lineage of Sotatsu Tawaraya, Korin Ogata, and Boitsu Sakai is called "Rimpa," but there is no direct master-disciple relationship; instead, the distinctive feature is that they learned the painting style through their works. In this exhibition, a variety of Rimpa works from different eras will be displayed alongside classical and other school works. Because Rimpa connects in a loose and flexible manner, it has flourished by learning from the works of predecessors without merely imitating them. By comparing, each characteristic and charm will become more apparent.
