Yoshida River Festival

Lanterns and fireworks illuminate the Yoshida River
The festival began when the Yoshida River was renovated and the park was created in 1967. The centerpiece of the festival is the floating of lanterns (tōrō); it is done to express gratitude to the clear stream and to pay respects to ancestors by floating lanterns in the river. The sight of lanterns gently illuminated by candles, floating on the river surface, colors the summer night and soothes the hearts of the onlookers. Additionally, food stalls line the area, creating a lively atmosphere filled with families.
