He Shaoki and Yang Xian, representative calligraphers of the Qing Dynasty. Among the Chinese calligraphy materials held by Kanpo-kan, the works of these two are notable for their quality and quantity, making it one of Japan's finest collections. He Shaoki's calligraphy is learned from Tang's Yan Zhenqing, further incorporating elements of seal and clerical script, characterized by its unique undulation and dynamism. On the other hand, Yang Xian's calligraphy seeks its own expression based on Han's clerical script, featuring flexible brushstrokes and intensely exaggerated wave forms. Enjoy the world of calligraphy from these two distinctive artists.
