Takeru Shrine Ship Happiness Festival Fireworks

One of the Three Great Festivals of Otsu
This aquatic festival is based on the story of the eastern expedition of Yamato Takeru. On the main day, August 17, large and small portable shrines, parading from Takeru Shrine to the riverbank, are placed on ceremonial boats and navigate the Seta River. After the shrine ceremony at the temporary altar before the Seta River weir, they return, and as the fleet returns to Seta's Karahashi amidst the evening darkness, shimmering with the light of bonfires and lanterns along the river, the fireworks festival begins, reaching the climax of the festival. Enjoy the summer night with an extravagant fireworks display.
