Insect Society (Extended Version) 5th Session: Searching for the Origin of Insect Wings

Searching for the Origin of Insect Wings
The advancement of insects into the air during the Paleozoic era had a decisive impact on the formation of the Earth's ecosystems until today. Insects were the first animals on Earth to achieve powered flight and are still the only flying invertebrates. Among the many terrestrial invertebrates, why were only insects able to invade the sky? This lecture will consider the evolutionary scenario of insect wings through research comparing the development of wings and their presumed homologs between wingless and winged insects. ■Notes Please contact us in advance if you are participating as a group of more than 20 people.
