Mikawa Okaeri Festival

The town of Mikawa will be colored in festival hues for two days.
The spring festival of Fujitsuka Shrine, "Okaeri Festival." It is said that its prototype existed 700 years ago, and it took its current form around the mid-Edo period when it prospered due to the Kitamae ships. The golden portable shrine is guided by a lion for exorcism and departs from the shrine, parading through the town with 13 wheeled floats crafted with the skills of Mikawa Buddhist altar makers, accompanied by trumpet players in traditional attire. On the first day, it departs from Fujitsuka Shrine and arrives at Takahama Otabisho for an overnight stay, and on the second night, it departs from Otabisho, passing through the Okaeri street of the town, returning to Fujitsuka Shrine in the early morning of the following day.

- The wheeled floats are expected to arrive at Takahama Otabisho around 7 PM on May 17 (Saturday), and the portable shrine is expected to arrive around 9 PM. Departure from Otabisho on May 18 (Sunday) is planned for after 7 PM.
