Amamiya Shrine Grand Festival

A traditional dance with approximately 1300 years of history in Mori Town
The Grand Festival at Amamiya Shrine is held on the first Saturday and Sunday of April every year, featuring the dedication of the 'Twelve-stage Dance of Amamiya Shrine' (an important intangible folk cultural asset of the country). The dance at Amamiya Shrine has a tradition of approximately 1300 years, and it is said to have begun when Fujiwara no Ayatari, who came to Kyoto as a priest in 705, dedicated the dance. Starting with the purification 'Enbu,' twelve performances are presented on the stage of the shrine's dance hall, including 'Niwa Kochou,' which depicts butterflies playing, and the majestic 'Taiheiraku.'
