Takara Taisha Kawatari Matsuri (Hekokaki Festival)

Pass through the 'wicker ring' and pray for safety during your years of misfortune.
The Takara Taisha Kawatari Matsuri, commonly known as the "Hekokakimatsuri," is cherished by people. Those who have reached their 60s or are in their years of misfortune wear red underwear and shoulder cloths to pass through the 'wicker ring' (chinowa) to pray for safety during their years of misfortune. *The naked pilgrimage is held on June 1.

Get off at Nishitetsu "Kurume" Station on the Nishitetsu Tenjin Omuta Line, take the Nishitetsu Bus No. 1-1 or similar to "Takara Taisha" and walk for about 5 minutes.

- Naked Festival: Gather at 5:00 AM on June 1 (Purification ceremony starts at 5:15 AM at Ajisui Miimachi Shrine, disbanding around 8:00 AM). Prior registration required. 'Wicker ring' purification ceremony: June 1 and 2, 7:00 AM / 11:00 AM / 2:00 PM.

- About 50 cars can park near the shrine grounds. Participants of the Naked Festival should use the Marigold Wedding Hall 2nd parking lot (next to the purification area).
