Emergency Report: Considering the Military Actions of Israel, the United States, and Iran

Reports by Hisashi Nakanishi and Koya Umehara
On June 13, Israel launched a large-scale airstrike operation against Iran. It is labeled as a self-defense operation to stop nuclear development, but the legal basis under international law is extremely weak. Nevertheless, the United States, led by President Trump, has also joined the conflict. Iran is fiercely retaliating, leading to increased instability in the Middle East and serious negative impacts on the international order surrounding nuclear issues. How should we think about this situation? Two researchers in international relations will report from their respective areas of expertise.
