Suiyama Jizō Festival

The tradition of 'crafts' colors the festival
In Maibara City, famous for its waterfall moss, the annual Suiyama Jizō Festival is held on August 23 and 24. During this period, the largest Jizō statue in the prefecture, 'Suiyama Enmei Jizō', is opened to the public, and the festival is decorated with traditional 'crafts' made by local residents, based on themes such as trends and folklore. Food stalls and kitchen cars will also line up, and on the 24th, a candle floating event will be held on Jizō River, allowing visitors to experience the coolness of summer unique to the region.
