Hita Gion Matsuri

Luxurious floats accompanied by the sounds of Gion Hayashi
The "Hita Gion Matsuri", a summer traditional event with a history of about 300 years, is registered as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. The splendid and luxurious floats parade through the streets of the Kumamoto-Takeda and Mameda districts accompanied by the sounds of Gion Hayashi. At night, the festival reaches its peak with the elegant evening procession of floats adorned with lanterns. The "Hita Gion Yamaboko Group Face Show" is scheduled to take place on July 20 (Sunday) in front of JR Hita Station.
