Yanagiyama Kannon Chita Betsuin Festival (June)

Wish at the miraculous temple of Yanagiyama Kannon
Kyoto, the famous Yanagiyama Kannon, Yōgane-ji. The monthly event, the festival, held at Shōmyō-ji, a Chita Betsuin. On that day, individual names are read aloud during the ceremony to ensure that the wishes of the participants come true. Participants who attend the ceremony receive a protective talisman called 'zukō' (塗香). It is a scented talisman that can be exchanged for a new one every month. Afterward, there is a simple tea gathering. After the ceremony, in addition to the usual goshuin (temple seal), those who wish may receive a whimsical goshuin written by the head priest on a whim.
