Seoto Uchi Jakuchō (1922-2021) spent her youth during the time Japan was heading towards the Pacific War. Her experiences include marriage life in Beijing under Japanese occupation, repatriation from China, and the death of her mother in the Tokushima air raid. Jakuchō's war experiences led to her anti-war activities after becoming a nun. We will reflect on how the war influenced Jakuchō's life and literature, marking the 80th anniversary of the post-war period.
