Hitoichi Bonodori

One of the three major Bonodori festivals in Akita Prefecture - Hitoichi Bonodori
The Hitoichi Bonodori is considered one of the three major Bonodori festivals in Akita Prefecture, held for three days from August 18 to 20 every year at the Hitoichi shopping district. Its history dates back to the Kanbun era (1662), when the 'shukuba' (post town) and 'odenbashyo' (horse relay station) were established in Hachirogata Town, marking the origin of its current form. The sight of dancers dressed in yukata and colorful costumes, dancing and singing to the sounds of drums and flutes, is a summer tradition of Hachirogata.
