Hara Higashi Ohana Ue

Hayashida faithfully inherited traditions
In the traditional "Hanadaue" ritual, elegantly dressed young women sing while planting rice in rhythm with drums, flutes, and bells. This event is a precious cultural tradition that conveys the rice-planting scenes depicted in medieval illustrations such as the "Oyamadera Engi Emaki" along with the Hayashi rice fields of Shinjo. It was designated as an important intangible folk cultural asset of the country under the name "Aki no Hayashida" on December 15, 1997.
