The River Opening Festival is a celebration of gratitude to Mr. Kawamura Sangobei Shigekichi, who, under the command of Date Masamune, opened up the Kitakami River and established a port in Ishinomaki. This festival, which has a history of over 100 years, marks its 102nd event this year. The fireworks display will be held on the 3rd (Saturday), featuring beautiful fireworks reflected on the river's surface that charm the audience.
