Masao Nakai, who was appointed as the first deputy director of the National Diet Library, dedicated himself to the establishment of the Library Law to contribute to the education and cultural development of the people, and passed away from the demanding work. Nakai was born through a life-threatening cesarean section and went on to Kyoto Imperial University to become a lecturer. However, due to his participation in the anti-fascist cultural movement, he was arrested under the Public Security Act and forced to change his course. After the war, he embarked on a citizen cultural movement in the dawn of a new era... Based on Nakai's essay of the same name, his tumultuous life story is dramatized.
