Prince Takamatsu was born as the eighth daughter of Emperor Ninkō and married Tokugawa Iesada, the 14th shogun, in 1861 as a symbol of 'union of court and military'. It is recorded that she enjoyed the Hina Matsuri, keeping numerous Hina dolls and exchanging them with others during the festival. This exhibition displays approximately 100 Hina dolls and Hina tools that have been handed down as items used by Prince Takamatsu, introducing a glimpse of Edo period culture and the artisans' remarkable craftsmanship. ■Note The viewing path in the general exhibition room is about 4km long, so if you are in a hurry, it is recommended to use the central staircase and start from the 3rd exhibition room.
