New Fukuoka Early Music Festival 2025 Early Music Course: Ancient Instruments String Instruments Edition

You can also become a cello expert! The Birth of the Cello
The cello is a very popular instrument loved by both children and adults, to the point that there is hardly a day when you don't hear it in dramas and commercials. However, not many people know about its history and birth. What happened in Italy in the late 17th century? This course will discuss pieces performed by Gabrielli and Spiryani, who were active in Italian cities such as Bologna and Naples, which are key to understanding the subject, leading up to the works of Bach in Germany. The instructor is Takashi Kenda (Cellist). Pre-registration required.
