Ryuko Kawabata (1885-1966), a Japanese painter counted among the three masters of modern Japanese painting alongside Taikan Yokoyama and Gyokudo Kawai. He consistently produced large works that transcended the established concepts of Japanese painting, overwhelming and captivating people. Over the span of 80 years, we will reflect on the kind of 'Japanese painting' image that Ryuko sought.
