Miwasaki Hachiman Shrine Grand Festival (Miwasaki Whale Dance)

Grand Festival of Miwasaki Hachiman Shrine
The Grand Festival of Miwasaki Hachiman Shrine is famous for showcasing the Japanese heritage "Whale Dance" to pray for a good catch. This dance, which mimics the act of catching whales, is said to have been organized as the "Whale Dance" when the lord of the time, Mizuno, presented whale meat to a court noble in Kyoto about 330 years ago.
