Let's Make Chikuyaki

Experience the traditional cuisine of Kurokawa
Chikuyaki is generally made by wrapping glutinous rice shaped into dumplings with bamboo leaves, but in the Kurokawa region, it uses oak and reed leaves. The ingredients are two simple ones: rice flour and salt. The rice flour is pounded with a mortar and pestle, then rolled into balls, wrapped in leaves, and steamed. The dumplings have a faint pleasant aroma from the leaves and are eaten with soybean flour. This food is made as a celebration for the Children's Day festival. It is targeted at students in the third grade and above, with adults also welcome to participate.
