Tingatinga Original Painting Exhibition @ Tsuruya Department Store - African Contemporary Art

Tingatinga art is a painting style that originated in Tanzania in the late 1960s. Handmade works created without sketches using six colors of paint. Over 100 colorful and dynamic original paintings depicting animals and rich nature will be exhibited and sold. Brightly colored East African fabrics will be newly available this summer. An African market featuring locally handmade goods and colorful fabrics will also be held simultaneously.

Access

From Kumamoto IC, take the local road towards Kumamoto city. Cross the Shirakawa River and go over Route 3. Estimated travel time is about 20 to 30 minutes.

Access (Public)

Take a train from JR Kumamoto Station towards Kengun and get off at either 'Tsuromachi-suji' or 'Suidou-machi'. Estimated travel time is about 20 to 25 minutes.
