Otomomi Gion Festival

The Gion Yamakasa Crossing the Sea of Otomo
After the plague-exorcising ceremony, the harvest blessing ceremony, and the big catch prayer at Yasaka Shrine, 50 young men lift the Gion Yamakasa, which is 15 meters tall and weighs 3 tons, using four long poles, and after parading around the district, they march into the sea. It is a famous festival known nationwide as the 'Yamakasa Crossing the Sea'.
