Masami Takahashi (1934-2024) pursued butterflies for nearly 80 years since elementary school and laid the foundation for insect research in Shizuoka. While serving as a high school teacher, he continued research at the forefront of butterfly taxonomy and biogeography, leaving behind numerous papers and books. His field of study extends from Shizuoka to various parts of Asia and South America, leaving behind many specimens. A part of the butterfly collection, which he devoted his life to collecting and donated to the museum, will be exhibited. ■Notes The exhibited specimens will be swapped between the first and second terms.
