Yasuyasu Shiba, a composer who paved the way for modern Gagaku. His diverse and rich Gagaku works are performed by Reigakusha, the Gagaku ensemble he founded, which celebrates its 40th anniversary this year. This exquisite program conveys Shiba's legacy of 'Gagaku's past and future' with the use of restored instruments from the Imperial Treasury and scales from the Nara period, reconstruction of music scores, and arrangements for the two-piped ryuteki. No entry for preschool children.
