Taiwan and Japan share common roots in manga culture. However, what was once a close relationship has greatly diverged over time. Why is that? This exhibition at the Kyoto International Manga Museum will unravel the modern history of Taiwan and Japan, highlighting the historical and political factors that have influenced manga culture, as well as the manga artists and editors who have resisted and carved out new expressions.
