Former Coal Miner's Photographs of Miike Coal Mine - 10th Anniversary of World Heritage Registration

Former Coal Miner's Photographs of Miike Coal Mine
The host, Masafumi Kinoshita's uncle, Takagi Naoyoshi (deceased), was a former coal miner. Since the 1950s, he has continued to take photos of coal mining sites and the lives of people in coal mining communities. Now, on the 10th anniversary of the registration as a World Heritage site, the labor in the mines and the lives of people in coal housing are precious records that can no longer be captured. We hope that this photo exhibition will allow young people to feel the energy of the underground that formed the foundation of modernization in Kyushu and Japan, and to receive pride and inspiration for future creation.
