Special Exhibition: Kyoto City University of Arts Collection - Japanese Paintings of Kyoto: The Talents of the Kyoto Art Scene

Introducing Kyoto's Japanese paintings from the Meiji era to the present
Kyoto has long led Japanese culture as a capital for a thousand years. After the Meiji Restoration, the Kyoto Prefectural School of Painting was established as Japan's first public art school, leading to the later Kyoto City University of Arts. This exhibition introduces Japanese paintings from Kyoto, created by artists who either graduated from or taught at the Kyoto City University of Arts, spanning from the Meiji era to the present. It is an exhibition where one can get a comprehensive overview of the flow of modern Japanese painting in Kyoto and enjoy its charm.
