The Ezo Yamazakura covering the pass is breathtaking.
Shiozuka Pass has been known as a cherry blossom viewing spot since ancient times, with about 1600 Ezo Yamazakura trees covering the pass under the clear skies of May, showcasing their beauty. Cherry blossoms are also planted along the approximately 14km road between Shiozuka and "Minamioka Forest Park," making walking while enjoying the blossoms a recommended activity. You can also enjoy cherry blossoms from the window of the JR Hokkaido sightseeing train "Hanatabi Soya" (reservation required), which operates on weekends from May 10 to June 1 (Saturdays: from Asahikawa to Wakkanai; Sundays: from Wakkanai to Asahikawa).
