[Maple Viewing] Shomyo Falls

The contrast of the waterfall and autumn leaves is stunning.
Shomyo Falls has the highest drop in Japan. The waterfall cascades down with a height of 350m! It is one of Japan's top 100 waterfalls and is designated as a national scenic spot and natural monument. The rest area provides explanations about the waterfall through models and videos, and the soft serve ice cream at the rest house is also recommended. One of the charms is being able to enjoy different atmospheres depending on the season, with beech trees, rowan, giant knotweed, and wild grapes visible in the surrounding area. In autumn, the dynamic landscape of the valley turns red and yellow, beautifully reflecting the white waterfall stream against the fall foliage.
