Kakunodate Sasara Mai

Let's spend a moment together during Obon
The 'Sasara Mai' in Kakunodate district of Senboku City, which has a history of over 400 years, is held every year as part of the Obon events, wishing for the worship of gods and Buddha and abundant harvests. This year, after five years of cancellations due to the COVID-19 pandemic and bad weather, citizens and tourists can finally watch the performance. Along with passing down this historically significant traditional event to future generations, it is held to honor our ancestors. The first performance of 'Shiraiwa Sasara' is at 18:00, and the second is at 19:00.
