Special Exhibition: Kobo Abe Exhibition - The Axis of 21st Century Literature

Kobo Abe, known for novels such as "The Wall" and "The Woman in the Dunes." With the cooperation of the Kanagawa Modern Literature Museum, we delve into his entirety with abundant materials including handwritten manuscripts, creative notebooks, letters, and cherished items, and re-examine the meaning of the themes in Abe's works in the context of the 21st century. Additionally, Kobo Abe's grandparents were settlers in Takanusu Village, Hokkaido (now Higashi-Takanosu, Asahikawa City), which has led him to have a connection with Hokkaido as well. The venue will feature a small corner titled "Kobo Abe and Hokkaido" to highlight this connection.
