Yano Hashimura, the founder of Osaka Art School and a southern-style painter, aimed for a modern 'New Southern Painting' and created many works that differ from traditional southern painting. In addition to a folding screen depicting the half-life of Nichiren, which was borrowed specially for this exhibition, we will showcase rare works that reveal an unknown side of Hashimura. We will also highlight the seal engraver Kondo Shakuten, who was a mentor of Hashimura in Chinese poetry, and introduce Shakuten's calligraphy and seals. Please enjoy the unknown new world of Yano Hashimura.
