Ohana Dance

A lively, majestic, and splendid dance
The 'Ohana Dance' features young men with drums on their chests and hoods on their backs, dancing surrounded by children in yukatas and adults in white juban. The origin of the dance is unclear, but it is said to be a story of the tragic fate of a beauty named Ohana, who lost her life for breaking a promise with the dragon god due to the villagers' wish for water, which transformed into a rain-seeking dance. It expresses the joy of the villagers who were blessed with gentle rain. A series of five types of dances such as 'Bahiro' and 'Michi-kusa' come together to form the performance.
