Utsunomiya Fukurayama Shrine 'Tenno Festival'

A festival to expel evil spirits (summer epidemics) by the deity of Suga Shrine, who resides within the grounds of Fukurayama Shrine. On July 15, the portable shrine makes its appearance, followed by about 40 children's portable shrines departing from Utsunomiya Castle Ruins Park in the evening of the following Saturday. They parade along the Symbol Road and Orion Street, facing the main portable shrine at Banba Plaza. After that, each portable shrine ascends the stone steps of Fukurayama Shrine. Additionally, on the following Sunday, the main portable shrine will travel through the town of the parish in the morning and afternoon.
