Kushida Shrine Autumn Festival (Fire Walking Ceremony)

This is a ceremonial event held at the Kushida Shrine's autumn festival. It is said to have been passed down from the Tendai Yamabushi, where lions and mikoshi (portable shrines) circulate the area collecting impurities, and participants vigorously run through burning cedar branches (leaves). This is a magnificent festival that burns away impurities.
