Cherry Blossom planted by Tokugawa Mitsukuni

Shidare Sakura of Soto-Ono

Early Apr~Mid-Apr

This large weeping cherry tree, over 300 years old, with a trunk circumference of 3.5m and a height of 10m, is said to be a tree planted by Tokugawa Mitsukuni. It is also said that a waka poem was created with the meaning "it will not take root even if transplanted elsewhere." Currently, it is designated as a natural monument by Ibaraki Prefecture (designated in Heisei 17) and there is also a cluster of Yamazakura nearby. Enjoy them together!
