Famous Places Along the Sumida River Through Ukiyo-e

For the people of Edo, the Sumida River was a very familiar river. Historic temples and shrines like Senso-ji and Mukojima Kimba-ji are scattered around, and there were also famous places where one could enjoy the beauty of the four seasons and nature. The Mukojima area was not far from the center of Edo by boat and had a peaceful atmosphere, making it an ideal recreational spot. This exhibition introduces the famous places along the Sumida River depicted in ukiyo-e, including nearby temples, flower spots, and ryotei (traditional Japanese restaurants). Through approximately 150 ukiyo-e prints in total, it conveys the charm of the Sumida River that the people of Edo enjoyed.

Closed every Monday (open on May 5), closed on May 7 (Wednesday). Admission is until 16:30. A significant change in exhibitions is planned for the first and second halves. First half: April 26 (Saturday) to May 25 (Sunday), Second half: May 27 (Tuesday) to June 22 (Sunday).
