29th Tamana Dai-Obi Festival

An exciting race rolling giant obi bales!
Every year, on November 23, the "Tamana Dai-Obi Festival" is held in Tamana City, Kumamoto Prefecture. This festival, now in its 29th edition, is based on the tradition from the Edo period when rice was transported to Osaka using rolled obi bales from a rice aggregation site. The highlight of the festival is the "obi rolling race" where participants compete with a giant 1-ton obi bale. Its size, speed, and overwhelming power are truly impressive. There will also be plenty of food stalls and local products from Tamana! A festival where you can fully enjoy the delicious treats of Tamana.
