Ama Festival - Shirongo Festival
Traditional Ama Festival of Sugashima
Dressed in white diving suits, the ama (female divers) enter the sea at the sound of shell trumpets, simultaneously diving for abalone, and the first pair of abalone they catch is offered to Shirahige Shrine. You can see the abalone diving process.
