Asama Shrine is fondly referred to as "O-Fuji-san". The plant market held on the last Saturday and Sunday of May and June has become a summer tradition in Asakusa, with many plant vendors gathering around Asama Shrine from behind Senso-ji Temple. It coincides with the beginning of the rainy season, which is considered the best time to transplant plants, and it is said that trees bought at the "O-Fuji-san Plant Market" thrive well. The main venue, "Yanagi Street," becomes a pedestrian paradise, and at night, the "Matagi Lanterns" are lit up, giving a sense of Edo's charm.
