A riot of seasonal flowers and a drifting cultural hobby
A flower garden opened during the Bunsei period (1804-1830), when Edo's townsfolk culture flourished. At the time of its opening, it mainly featured 360 plum trees, and was referred to as 'Shin Ume Yashiki' in contrast to the famous Kameido's Seikoan's 'Garyō Ume' house. Later, it collected famous plants referenced in classical Chinese and Japanese literature, allowing flowers to bloom throughout the seasons. Enjoy cherry blossom viewing for a long period from the Kanhi cherry blossoms in late February to the Fugenzō in late April.
